Gianna Jun has made a powerful return to the small screen with the new Disney+ original series 'Polaris', immediately capturing attention with her magnetic presence. Her performance, characterized by a commanding aura and deep emotional resonance, has viewers glued to their seats from the very first episodes.

Taking on the role of UN Ambassador Seo Munju, Jun’s seemingly perfect world unravels after witnessing the shocking assassination of her husband, Jun-ik (Park Hae-joon). Driven by a fierce determination to uncover the truth, she partners with a mysterious special agent, Sanho (Gang Dongwon), igniting a series of revelations that jeopardize the Korean peninsula.

The series escalates in tension as Munju navigates complex relationships and power struggles with her brother-in-law Jun-sang (Oh Jung-se), mother-in-law Ok-sun (Lee Mi-sook), and President Gyeong-shin (Kim Hae-sook). A pivotal moment sees Munju, spurred by betrayal, regain her composure and make a bold declaration: she will run for president.

In a breathtaking sequence, Munju announces her presidential candidacy in Gwanghwamun Square amidst the looming threat of a train explosion, blending raw emotion, political intrigue, and explosive action that leaves audiences on the edge of their seats. Jun's portrayal of Munju is nuanced, balancing strength and vulnerability through restrained emotion and precise delivery, grounding the series in authenticity.

Following her critically acclaimed roles in 'Kingdom: Ashin of the North' and 'Jirisan', 'Polaris' marks another ambitious step in Jun's genre-defying career, showcasing her continuous evolution and captivating ability to command the screen.

'Polaris' releases two new episodes every Wednesday on Disney+.

Gianna Jun solidified her status as a superstar with the blockbuster hit 'My Sassy Girl' in 2001. She has maintained a dominant presence in the advertising world for many years since her debut. In her recent work, 'Jirisan', she portrayed a park ranger with supernatural abilities, showcasing a different facet of her acting.
