Actress Son Ye-jin, who recently returned to the screen after her marriage to Hyun Bin and the birth of their son, recounted her experience receiving the script for a film directed by Park Chan-wook.

In a new video uploaded on the YouTube channel ‘Channel Fifteen Nights’ on the 12th, titled ‘The Movie You Must Watch This Year, No Matter What,’ Son Ye-jin shared details about how she came to be involved in the project.

She explained, “When I first received the scenario, I was informed that Director Park Chan-wook was offering it to me. Since I had to choose my first project after marriage, and my close friend Lee Min-jung knew about it…” Son Ye-jin revealed that her friend Lee Min-jung reached out to her, asking about her schedule. Upon hearing that Director Park was considering her for a role, she felt a sense of anticipation.

Son Ye-jin further elaborated, “Every actor wants to work with him, and knowing a senior actor was also in it, I read the script thinking, ‘This is it.’ However, I was surprised by how small my role was, to the point where I questioned my character’s significance.”

Director Park Chan-wook then shared Son Ye-jin’s plea: “Please just ensure I don’t hear my friends asking me why I did this role after the movie is released.” He humorously added that she had 'blackmailed' him, and in response, he made considerable efforts to adjust the script and editing to satisfy her request.

Actor Lee Byung-hun, who starred alongside her, praised her performance, saying, “Filming together, I was truly surprised by how incredibly well she acted.” To this, Son Ye-jin playfully remarked, “He’s truly soulless,” eliciting laughter.

Son Ye-jin made her acting debut in the 2001 drama 'Delicious Proposal' and quickly rose to stardom in the early 2000s with iconic romance films like 'Lover's Concerto,' 'The Classic,' and 'A Moment to Remember.' She is currently active in the 2024 drama 'The Atypical Family.'
