Actress Shin Ae-ra has revealed surprising culprits behind her blood sugar spikes: nurungji (scorched rice) and gimbap (seaweed rice rolls).

In a recent YouTube video uploaded on the 17th, Shin Ae-ra shared her experience wearing a continuous glucose monitor for 14 days to understand how her diet affects her blood sugar levels. She explained that while she has no underlying health issues like diabetes, her curiosity about the impact of her eating habits prompted the experiment.

Shin Ae-ra noted that while eating an apple on an empty stomach caused a slight increase, it wasn't a significant spike. However, she was astonished to find that consuming boiled nurungji with kimchi resulted in the highest blood sugar reading of the experiment, even surpassing the levels seen after eating chocolate.

She also observed minimal impact from sugar-free candies and wild honey, which caused only a mild increase. Following nurungji, gimbap was identified as the second food that triggered a substantial blood sugar spike.

Furthermore, Shin Ae-ra shared a valuable insight from dining out: eating in the order of vegetables, protein, fat, and carbohydrates effectively prevented blood sugar spikes, a strategy she learned from experts. She also added that taking a walk after meals helped to lower her blood sugar levels.

Shin Ae-ra married actor Cha In-pyo in 1995 and is a mother to one son and two adopted daughters. Her adoption of two daughters garnered significant public attention and admiration. For the past four years, she has been a beloved parenting expert on the Channel A show 'My Golden Kids,' offering insightful advice. She actively engages with her fans through social media, maintaining a warm and approachable presence.
