Middle Schooler on 'My Golden Kids' Confesses Longing for the Past; Oh Eun Young Points Out Lack of Love Memories

A middle schooler featured on Channel A's 'My Golden Kids' was diagnosed with adolescent depression by Dr. Oh Eun Young.

During the broadcast, the child's father confronted him about his extreme behavior, asking, "Did I do anything wrong to you? Honestly, I don't think I did. Do you know how much money I've spent on you so far?" The child refused to communicate, responding, "Don't worry about it." Angered, the father shouted, "Then go! Go to your mother if you want to!"

The child immediately texted his mother, "I'm going to my mom," and when his father and grandmother tried to stop him, he retorted, "You told me to go to my mom." In the studio, the father revealed that after his divorce, he lived with his son, then remarried and sent the child to his biological mother. When the biological mother remarried, she brought the child to live with them when he was 10. He stated he wanted to take responsibility for his son until the end. However, Dr. Oh Eun Young pointed out the child's experience of being moved around due to his parents' circumstances, saying, "When a child is moved around like baggage, they may understand their parents' situation, but in their heart, they might feel, 'Am I not a precious and most important person to my parents?'"

Later, the child reunited with his mother, who had been living in another region. When asked about his extreme behavior, the child confessed, "I want to go back to how it was before. That video you sent last time, Mom, with the train..." He recalled a happy memory of riding a train with his parents at a kids' cafe. Dr. Oh Eun Young expressed her sympathy, saying, "You must have been truly lonely."

Trapped in a past he cannot return to, the child eventually expressed his desire to live with his family: "Let's live together. Let's all live together with Dad." Dr. Oh Eun Young advised the father, "Why does he miss that video? You do show him affection, right? He's holding onto this memory: 'My parents loved and doted on me like this back then.'" She added, "After that, he doesn't have many memories of 'My parents love me.' He seems to feel a significant lack because of this." She also criticized the father's disciplinary style, which labels the child as the problem: "Your grades aren't good, and I say, 'Do you know how much money has been spent?' You might think you can't raise me. I'm very curious why you express yourself that way," emphasizing the need for in-depth discussion.
