Gold Medalist, the agency representing actor Kim Soo-hyun, has issued an official statement addressing recent allegations concerning settlement fees.

Previously, a media outlet reported that the total settlement amount paid to artists by Gold Medalist from 2020 to 2024 was only 670 million won, a figure deemed unusually low compared to industry standards. The report also raised suspicions about the transparency of the company's major shareholder, Barun 2nd Private Equity Fund, citing discrepancies in its registered business address.

In response, Gold Medalist released a statement on the 19th, clarifying the facts. The agency explained that comparing accounting practices between listed companies (following K-IFRS) and their unlisted company (following K-GAAP) is inappropriate. They stated that artist distribution fees are included in the cost of revenue according to K-GAAP, posing no accounting issues.

Regarding the fund's registered address, the agency confirmed it was legally registered at the time of business registration. They further noted that it is common for investment funds not to have physical offices and that this is currently the case. Gold Medalist emphasized that their management undergoes thorough legal reviews through a contract with a law firm, ensuring no illegal activities.

Kim Soo-hyun debuted in 2007 and has since become a major Hallyu star through hit dramas such as 'My Love from the Star', 'The Producers', 'Crash Landing on You', and 'It's Okay to Not Be Okay'. His exceptional acting skills and ability to embody diverse characters have garnered him immense popularity both domestically and internationally. He recently made a comeback with the Coupang Play drama 'One Ordinary Day', generating significant buzz.
