Lee Seung-yeon's Warning Against Scammers Sparks New Suspicions of Fraudulent Messages
Actress Lee Seung-yeon, who attempted to warn her fans about a scammer impersonating her, is now facing suspicion from netizens that the very message she received might be another fraudulent scheme.
Lee Seung-yeon shared a screenshot on her social media account, showing a direct message she received from a fan. The message detailed an impersonator in Japan demanding Google Play cards, posing as Lee Seung-yeon. She posted this to prevent her fans from becoming victims.
However, several netizens pointed out that this warning message itself could be a sophisticated scam. They suggested it might be a new tactic where scammers approach celebrities, offer to help prevent fraud, build trust, and then orchestrate a larger scam. Lee Seung-yeon reportedly agreed with these concerns, expressing her bewilderment.
Demands for prepaid gift cards like Google Play cards from overseas are a well-known scam method. This incident follows two other impersonation cases Lee Seung-yeon experienced this year, including one where a fake account used her photo as a profile picture, prompting her to request reports from fans.
