Jang Seo-yeon Reflects on 'Butterfly' Debut: 'A New Starting Line' in Hollywood

Actress Jang Seo-yeon is sharing her heartfelt reflections on her role in the Amazon Prime Video series 'Butterfly,' which also aired in Korea on tvN, calling it a career turning point and expressing gratitude to her global audience.

Jang portrayed Moon, an elite agent and secretary to Juno (Piper Perabo), the leader of the clandestine organization C.A.D.I.S. Dressed in sharp suits, with a headset and phone ever-present, Moon was the epitome of precision and discipline. Jang's confident English delivery enhanced the character's realism, earning significant praise from viewers.

"I had always dreamed of working on a Hollywood project, and acting alongside Daniel Dae Kim was a great joy," Jang shared. "It was also incredibly special to be part of the same production as Korean actors like Park Hae-soo, Kim Tae-hee, and Kim Ji-hoon, despite it being an American series. Even without sharing screen time, the experience of being in the same project is something I'll always cherish."

She elaborated on her preparation: "Moon is a rational character who anticipates Juno’s needs. I concentrated on her styling, speech, and even her gait to ensure these traits were conveyed. It was a fresh challenge for me."

On her English performance, Jang was candid: "I always wanted to act in English, but opportunities were scarce. I'm thankful for the positive reception. 'Butterfly' allowed me to build new international connections and introduce myself to a wider audience, making this project truly meaningful."
