Actor Jung Woo-sung is set to make his first public appearance in approximately a year, following past controversies surrounding his personal life. The 34th Buil Film Awards has announced the recipient of the Yoo Hyun-mok Film Arts Award and the participants for the upcoming hand-printing ceremony.

The Buil Film Awards, established in 1958 and recognized as Korea's first film award that led the golden age of Korean cinema in the 1960s, has continued its legacy for 18 years since its revival in 2008. The awards ceremony, scheduled for September 18th at the Signiel Busan Grand Ballroom, will feature a pre-ceremony hand-printing session and a red carpet event, followed by the presentation of awards across 16 categories, including the Star of the Year and the Yoo Hyun-mok Film Arts Award.

Notably, actor Jang Dong-gun has been selected as the recipient of the Yoo Hyun-mok Film Arts Award, a special honor established to carry forward the spirit of the late master director Yoo Hyun-mok, who was known for his challenging and progressive filmmaking. Yang Yoon-ho, Vice Chairman of the Korean Film Council, cited Jang Dong-gun's profound transformation and authentic portrayal of a father in the film 'Ransomed' as aligning with Director Yoo's pursuit of realism and humanism, and his unwavering passion and dedication to cinema even at an advanced age.

Furthermore, previous Buil Film Awards winners from the 33rd ceremony, including actors Jung Woo-sung (Best Actor), Kim Geum-soon (Best Actress), Lim Ji-yeon (Best Supporting Actress), Lee Joon-hyuk (Star of the Year - Male), Shin Hye-sun (Star of the Year - Female), Kim Young-sung (Best New Actor), and Jung Soo-jung (Best New Actress), are confirmed to attend the hand-printing event. The entire ceremony will be simultaneously live-streamed on Naver's platforms, Chiizik and Naver TV.

Jung Woo-sung debuted in the 1994 film 'The Fox with Nine Tails' and has since been a leading figure in Korean cinema for nearly three decades.

Beyond his acting career, he actively engages in social contributions as a Goodwill Ambassador for the UNHCR.

He is expected to continue his prolific acting career with upcoming projects such as the film 'A Man of Reason' and 'The King: The Return of the Monkey King'.
