Han So-hee & Jeon Jong-seo Open Up About Grueling Action in 'Project Y' at TIFF

Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo, stars of the upcoming film 'Project Y', have revealed the intense physical demands of their roles during a recent talk at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Attending the prestigious festival in Canada, the actresses discussed their characters' struggles and the significant action sequences required for the movie, directed by Lee Hwan.

'Project Y' follows Misun (Han So-hee) and Dokyung (Jeon Jong-seo), two individuals who, having only each other, embark on a dangerous mission to steal hidden money and gold bars to escape their harsh reality. The film's inclusion in TIFF's Special Presentations section marked its international premiere.

While both actresses have previously garnered praise for their action performances, notably Han So-hee in 'My Name' and Jeon Jong-seo in 'Ballerina', they admitted that 'Project Y' presented a unique challenge. "The action was incredibly difficult," Han So-hee shared, eliciting laughter from the audience.

She elaborated, explaining, "Our film isn't strictly an action movie, but rather a journey where characters resort to any means necessary for survival. Thus, there are many situations that require intense physical exertion. I think the action has been highlighted, but I hope it turns out well."

Jeon Jong-seo added, "While we do have action schools in Korea for training, I personally don't frequent them often." She further clarified, "'Project Y' is not an action film in its core; it's a story about two friends. Although there's a lot of action as we filmed, it's essentially a chase narrative and a depiction of their friendship."

Han So-hee concurred, stating, "I agree, it's more about the flow of the story these two friends create, with action as a part of it. I hope the audience focuses on why they had to go to such extremes and exert themselves physically to protect and achieve something."

Han So-hee debuted in the 2017 drama 'My Golden Life'.

She gained significant recognition for her powerful action portrayal in the Netflix series 'My Name'.
