SBS Unveils 'Our Ballad', A New Audition Show Aiming to Bridge Generations with Timeless Melodies

SBS is set to launch a brand-new music audition program, 'Our Ballad,' promising to connect generations through the power of timeless ballads.

Scheduled to premiere on September 23rd, 'Our Ballad' will seek out new voices capable of reinterpreting iconic ballads that have resonated with listeners throughout their lives.

The production team boasts a strong lineup, including Park Sung-hoon CP and Jung Ik-seung PD from the hit show 'K-Pop Star,' along with writer Mo Eun-seol of the Netflix global hit 'Chef Brothers.' The collaboration between SBS, SM Entertainment, and SM C&C heralds a potentially monumental audition program.

Contestants, with an average age of 18.2, will bring a fresh perspective to beloved ballads spanning from the 1980s to the 2020s. The show will feature a specially curated 'Our Ballad' TOP 100 chart, derived from over 1.2 million Korean pop songs released since the 1980s.

A unique 'Top 100 Guardians' system will be implemented, featuring 150 individuals from various walks of life, not just music experts, to evaluate the contestants, reflecting a broader public taste.

Celebrity panelists including Jung Jae-hyung, Cha Tae-hyun, Choo Sung-hoon, Jun Hyun-moo, Park Kyung-lim, Danny Koo, Crush, Jung Seung-hwan, and Oh My Girl's Mimi will participate as 'Top 100 Guardians,' promising engaging chemistry and diverse viewpoints.

Viewers can anticipate an exciting journey as they follow the competition, predicting who will ultimately be crowned the winner of 'Our Ballad.'

The directorial team includes Jung Ik-seung, Ahn Jung-hyun, Han Ye-seul, and Ko Ji-yeon. Mo Eun-seol, who worked on 'Chef Brothers', is the writer for the show. This marks SBS's return to major audition programs after 'K-Pop Star', aiming to solidify its reputation in ballad music.
