From I.O.I to Blue Dragon: Kim Do-yeon Wins Best New Actress for 'School Ghost Stories'

Actress Kim Do-yeon, formerly of the girl group I.O.I, has shed her idol image to claim the Best New Actress award at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards, marking a significant milestone in her acting career.

The ceremony, held on November 19th at the KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul, saw Kim Do-yeon honored for her performance in the film 'Amiba Girls and School Ghost Stories: Foundation Day'.

Kim Do-yeon, who debuted as an idol and transitioned to acting, was visibly emotional upon receiving the award. The significance of the moment was amplified as fellow I.O.I member Kim Min-ju was also nominated in the same category. Tears flowed as she began her acceptance speech.

"I'm so grateful to director Kim Min-ha, who created such a lovely and passionate film. I was always inspired by your pure love and passion," she expressed. Kim Do-yeon also shared her love for her family, stating, "I'm so happy to be born as your daughter, Mom and Dad."

Addressing her fans, she said, "Many fans supported me when I debuted as an idol, singing and dancing on stage. I'm so grateful that you're always cheering for me as an actress now. I didn't think an award would mean so much to me, but receiving this recognition makes me realize I wanted it. This award will be a great source of strength for my future acting endeavors."

She concluded with a promise: "I will become an actress who thinks and contemplates more, but does not hesitate."
