Hoshi, a member of the popular K-pop group SEVENTEEN, has officially begun his mandatory military service, enlisting at a training center on the 16th.

After completing basic military training, Hoshi will serve as an active-duty soldier, becoming the fourth SEVENTEEN member to fulfill his military obligations, following Jeonghan, Wonwoo, and Woozi.

On the eve of his enlistment, Hoshi held a live broadcast on the fan community platform Weverse to bid farewell to his fans. "I'm enlisting tomorrow. I'll come back healthy and strong," he assured fans, also mentioning Woozi's successful entry into training. "Jihoon (Woozi) entered the training center well and is healthy, so he'll do great."

He continued, "Shaving my head really made it hit me. My resolve feels stronger now." Hoshi expressed his desire to alleviate fans' boredom during his absence. "Please don't worry too much. I've worked hard to prepare content so you won't be bored while I'm away. I hope you'll enjoy it."

Notably, Hoshi revealed that his training period will be seven weeks instead of the standard five due to overlapping with the Chuseok holiday. He showed his shaved head, making a salute gesture to fans as he vowed to return healthy.

Adding to the anticipation, Hoshi announced that a new song he personally worked on, titled 'TAKE A SHOT,' will be released on the day of his enlistment, the 16th, at 6 PM KST. He described the track as a rap song with a different style from his previous work, representing himself.

Fellow celebrities, including Lee Soo-hyuk and Lee Dong-hwi, also sent their support. Lee Soo-hyuk posted a photo with Hoshi, expressing confidence in his ability to serve well and urging him to stay healthy. He also encouraged fans to look forward to the content Hoshi prepared. Lee Dong-hwi simply wished him a safe return.

Earlier, on a YouTube channel, Hoshi shared his mixed feelings about enlistment, stating, "I have expectations and feel a bit sentimental. I'm curious about a different social environment after being in the industry since middle school." He also attended the SEVENTEEN concert 'SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [NEW_]' on the 14th alongside Jeonghan, Woozi, and Wonwoo, receiving a warm send-off from fans.

Hoshi is expected to complete his 18-month service and be discharged on March 15, 2027.

Hoshi leads SEVENTEEN's performance team and is nicknamed 'Tiger' for his powerful stage presence and exceptional dance skills. He has been instrumental in choreographing many of SEVENTEEN's songs, shaping their signature performance style. The pre-enlistment release 'TAKE A SHOT' signifies his venture into new musical territories.
