Girl's Day's Hyeri Reveals 'Love Transit' Viewing Style: More Detective than Romantic?
Lee Hye-ri, also known as Hyeri from the K-pop group Girl's Day, has shared her unique perspective on the popular dating reality show 'Love Transit' (환승연애), showcasing her 'S' MBTI tendencies.
On May 12th, a video titled "Two Ways to Watch 'Love Transit'" was uploaded to Hyeri's YouTube channel. In the video, Hyeri sat down for a meal and a candid conversation with actress Park Kyung-hye.
During their discussion about the differences between 'N' and 'S' MBTI types, Park Kyung-hye mentioned, "I actually witnessed an N and S situation firsthand while working a part-time job recently." She continued, "Doesn't everyone watch 'Love Transit' these days? I actually don't watch it. If I hear 'Love Transit' just from Instagram, someone will immediately say, 'Don't spoil it!'" Hyeri chimed in, "Actually, I was planning to watch 'Love Transit' today. But thanks to you, it became a 'no-fun' content for me," confirming her status as a dedicated viewer.
Park Kyung-hye recounted an incident where an 'N' friend asked an 'S' friend, "If you went on 'Love Transit' with your girlfriend of five years, and she went on a date with another guy, did that in front of you, and acted overly friendly with him while treating you like a stranger, how would you feel?" The 'S' friend reportedly replied, "I wouldn't go." When the 'N' friend pressed further, asking about the feelings involved if they *did* go, the 'S' friend simply said, "Well, I wouldn't go, so I don't know," leading to a humorous dead end.
Upon hearing this, Hyeri responded, "But I wouldn't (go)..." revealing her 'S' thinking and perplexing Park Kyung-hye. Hyeri, known to have an ESTJ MBTI, firmly stated, "I absolutely wouldn't. It's not me." When Park Kyung-hye probed, "It's not you, but what about the other person's feelings? Like 'What should I do?' or 'I'm so excited'?" Hyeri asked, "See what?" further highlighting her analytical approach, contrasting with the empathetic engagement typically associated with 'S' types.
Despite Park Kyung-hye's attempts to draw her into an emotional 'Love Transit' scenario, Hyeri humorously deflected, pointing out, "Unnie, you have some rice grains on your mouth. You ate well." Hyeri explained her enjoyment of 'Love Transit' not through empathy, but by finding the situations "fun and intriguing in themselves." She elaborated, "If a guy didn't choose a girl, I think, 'Why didn't he choose her?' It's like being a detective." Park Kyung-hye reacted with disbelief, asking, "Are you a detective?" but Hyeri maintained her analytical stance, adding, "I watch the reviews diligently to see how others interpret it."
Meanwhile, Hyeri was previously involved in a controversy related to 'Love Transit' rumors surrounding her ex-boyfriend, actor Ryu Jun-yeol, whom she dated for about eight years after meeting on 'Reply 1988.' Hyeri had posted a cryptic message on social media at the time, which fueled the speculation.
More recently, a 10th-anniversary reunion MT for 'Reply 1988' took place with the cast members, but Ryu Jun-yeol's absence meant a proper reunion with Hyeri did not occur.
Korean netizens commented, "Hyeri is indeed S lol, I empathize first," "Honestly, I'd think like Hyeri," and "It's hilarious that Hyeri's a detective, but I get it." Many related to Hyeri's straightforward approach or found her perspective amusing.
