South Korean band DAY6 surprised fans by revealing that they initially auditioned for JYP Entertainment with aspirations of becoming dancers, not rockstars.

Appearing on the tvN show 'You Quiz on the Block' for their 10th debut anniversary, the members shared humorous anecdotes and insights into their journey. The group kicked off their segment with a unique motto: 'We won't do well. Let's just play,' a phrase coined by Sungjin to ease their performance anxiety.

Host Yoo Jae-suk commented on the band's evolution, to which DAY6 members expressed disbelief at their current success, including their recent sold-out concert at Gocheok Sky Dome. Dowoon playfully exposed that such achievements are only discussed backstage, drawing laughter from the hosts.

When asked about their origins as JYP's first-ever band, Wonpil admitted, "We never imagined being in a band; we just loved singing and dreamed of being singers." Young K recalled his rigorous dance training, even mastering backflips, only to be asked by JYP officials if he could play the guitar, marking the pivotal moment their band identity was formed. Sungjin added that his lack of dancing skills led him to focus on vocals, but after being told he had no talent for dancing, he began learning the guitar just before their debut, ultimately shaping DAY6 into the band they are today.

DAY6 is a four-member South Korean band formed by JYP Entertainment in 2015, consisting of Sungjin, Jae, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon.

They are known for their hit songs like 'Time of Our Life,' 'You Were Beautiful,' and 'Every Day We Battle,' with members actively participating in songwriting and composition, earning acclaim for their heartfelt lyrics.

Beyond their group activities, individual members have explored various artistic pursuits, including solo music releases, acting, and musical theater, showcasing their diverse talents.
