LG Uplus's STUDIO X+U, in collaboration with Naver, is set to launch eight short-form dramas tailored for the MZ generation's viewing habits. These series will begin rolling out sequentially on September 30th, with an exclusive preview at 'BCWW 2025 (BroadCast WorldWide)' held at COEX from the 16th to the 19th.

STUDIO X+U has established itself as a master of mid-form dramas, with titles like 'The Hunter with a Scalpel' and 'High Cookie' to its name. This new venture marks an expansion into short-form content, aiming to captivate viewers who prefer fast-paced and straightforward storytelling. With short-form dramas rapidly emerging as a global trend, significant interest from industry professionals and international buyers is anticipated for STUDIO X+U's debut in this format.

The lineup includes four highly-rated Naver Webtoon intellectual properties (IP) that have been adapted into short dramas: 'The Wicked Woman', 'The Vending Machine Ghost', 'Sister's War', and 'Sperman'. These works, boasting average ratings above 9.9, are expected to resonate with existing fanbases and new audiences alike. 'Sperman', in particular, which has seen five successful seasons, has generated considerable excitement with its drama adaptation news.

In addition to the webtoon adaptations, STUDIO X+U is also releasing four original short dramas: 'Sujisuji', 'Possessed Romance', 'Entangled Means Death', and 'The Bad Thing I Did to My Boss'. These dramas are poised to satisfy a wide range of tastes with their diverse genres and themes, creating a synergistic effect between the webtoon fandom and short-form drama viewers. The cast features familiar faces such as Oh Jeong-yeon, Jo Seung-hee, and Kim Hyung-min in 'Sujisuji', Kang Min-ah and Song Byung-geun in 'The Wicked Woman', and Jun Jun-ho and Ko Woo-ri in 'Sperman', alongside emerging talents, promising rich entertainment and appeal.

Oh Jeong-yeon, returning to dramas after two years since 'Strong Girl Nam-soon', shared her enthusiasm: "I personally have a lot of affection for this project, playing the role of Suji. I hope for great interest and success at BCWW." Lee Deok-jae, Executive Vice President of STUDIO X+U, stated, "We are breaking away from conventional formats to present intriguing stories in short-form dramas," adding, "We aim to evolve into the leading studio for both mid-form and short-form content."

The eight short dramas will be sequentially released starting September 30th on Naver TV and the streaming platform Chiizik.

Oh Jeong-yeon, who plays the lead role of Suji in 'Sujisuji', expressed her deep affection for the project, marking her return to drama acting after a two-year hiatus since 'Strong Girl Nam-soon'. STUDIO X+U aims to solidify its position as a top-tier studio by successfully expanding into the short-form content domain, following its established expertise in mid-form dramas.
