K-Drama Fest Lights Up Autumn Nights: 2025 Korea Drama Festival to be Held in Jinju
A special autumn festival for drama fans is set to unfold in Jinju, Gyeongnam. The ‘2025 Korea Drama Festival’ (KDF), the first of its kind in Korea, will take place from October 10th to 19th along the Namgang River in Jinju City.
Established in 2007, KDF has become a representative cultural festival promoting the global status of K-dramas and fostering the development of the video industry. This year's event promises a variety of programs bringing together domestic and international drama enthusiasts and stars.
The festival's highlight, the ‘2025 Korea Drama Awards,’ is scheduled for October 11th at 5 PM at the Gyeongnam Culture and Arts Center. Lead actors from 92 dramas aired this year will gather to honor the year's most outstanding works and performers.
Earlier that day, at 1 PM, the ‘International Drama Storytelling Forum’ will offer a platform for discussions ranging from on-set production experiences to global distribution strategies and cultural industry value.
The festival grounds along the Namgang River will also feature interactive experiences. The ‘Drama Script Experience Photo Zone’ allows visitors to step into popular drama sets and become the main characters. The ‘Drama History Exhibition Hall’ provides a comprehensive look at the evolution of K-dramas.
This year, the KDF promotion zone will host an art exhibition by artist Yeon Ji-seong, showcasing works inspired by dramas. Additionally, drama-related merchandise and various fan events are planned.
As night falls, the Jinju Namgang River will be filled with music. The ‘KDF Music Festa’ will feature live performances of drama OSTs and busking acts, enhancing the autumn evening's ambiance. This open stage is designed for everyone, including drama fans, local residents, and tourists.
Son Seong-min, chairman of the KDF organizing committee, stated, “KDF is Korea's first drama festival that has laid the groundwork for Korean drama. This festival will showcase the excellence of K-dramas, which dominate the global OTT market, and will be a unique stage for all generations, from Gen Z to seniors.” He added, “We aim to grow beyond a festival for Jinju citizens into a global festival for K-drama fandom worldwide.”
Supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Gyeongnam Province, and Jinju City, KDF is poised to become Jinju's signature autumn festival, offering a glimpse into the present and future of Korean dramas.
First launched in 2007, the Korea Drama Festival boasts a rich history and tradition, marking its 19th year. It offers a comprehensive K-drama experience through diverse programs including awards, forums, exhibitions, and performances. The picturesque setting along the Namgang River in Jinju adds a romantic touch to this autumn celebration.
